The renowned green Rapé of the Apurinã tribe is derived from a plant known as Awiry. Unlike other varieties, this unique Rapé does not incorporate ashes or tobacco. The process involves drying the leaves of the Awiry plant, followed by pounding and sieving to produce a fine powder. The geographical location of the Awiry plant, typically found near riverbanks, determines the production schedule of this Rapé. It can only be crafted during the dry season when the river levels are low. The traditional method of consumption is through inhalation via a straight tube, a distinctive practice that sets it apart from most Sacred Snuff varieties, which are typically administered through nasal insufflation.
