The Kanaro Rapé is crafted following the traditional Yawanawa recipe, which combines Tsunu ashes and natural tobacco. In Yawanawa culture, the Kanaro, or Blue Macaw, is revered as a messenger from their astral plane. The Yawanawa people often share the tales of the Kanaro through their saité, or storytelling songs, which are rich in cultural significance and tradition. This particular blend is created by Shaneihu, the grandson of the renowned Yawanawa shaman Yawa, and the son of Chief Biraci. Shaneihu was the last person to complete the rigorous one-year Muka initiation diet under his grandfather’s guidance before his passing. This intensive spiritual journey is highly respected within the Yawanawa community and lends credibility to those who successfully complete it. In addition to his role as a rapé maker, Shaneihu is also an accomplished musician. His album, Kanaro, which is available on Spotify, beautifully encapsulates the rich cultural heritage of the Yawanawa people. The album offers listeners a unique opportunity to immerse themselves in the traditional storytelling songs of the Yawanawa, further enhancing their experience of the Kanaro Rapé.
